The Press are Trying to DIVIDE us - Do not let them

I've been really upset these last few days seeing articles in the press that are pretty scary. Calling for a two tier society and looking to penalise people for personal medical decisions. This is abhorrent and when people make parallels to Germany in the 1930's they are not wrong. Remember, Germany didn't just cart Jews off to the camps; there was a prolonged propaganda campaign against them suggesting they were the cause of the spread of typhoid & much of Germany's economic woes (neither were true of course!) We have never ostracised people like we are now. Smokers, heavy drinkers, fat people have for decades been a strain on NHS resources - but the press (many of them fall into these categories!) had no beef with that! But now, all of a sudden, someone choosing NOT to take a covid vaccine is being told they should lose freedoms by elements of the very same press! This is frankly disgusting & divisive. It's fueling arguments between friends & families. Vaccinated or not, we should stand together against the ever increasing tyrannical path our government is taking to erode ALL our freedoms. I assure all of you that a vaccine passport is not your pass to freedom but a huge step towards eroding it, maybe forever. Stephen Pollard is editor of the Jewish Chronicle - he more than most should be understanding of how the demonisation of a minority can lead to bad outcomes! He writes in the Express "Anti-vaxxers must face consequences of their selfishness". BUT he has zero data to show that the unvaccinated are any more of a problem than the vaccinated. Plus as a journalist he should know that when the government talk about "unvaccinated deaths" that includes many people who have had one and two jabs - the ONS definition of "unvaccinated" is not what you'd expect! ONS Definition of Unvaccinated: https://bit.ly/3JedbZc Adding to this, Mr Pollard is extremely overweight. That makes HIM much more susceptible to type 2 diabetes, heart disease, cancer & strokes - all of which are a far greater strain on the NHS than Covid! But I doubt anybody has suggested that HE lose his freedoms for the personal choices he makes about his body! (and I would gladly defend his rights) Guy Kelly, writing in the Telegraph is another who may want to read up on some history. He writes that "the unvaccinated are damaging society" - How exactly he does not say! He also quotes sources saying that most Covid ICU patients are unvaccinated - but again fails to mention that this included people with one, maybe two jabs! Why isn't the press defending people's rights to bodily autonomy? Most journalists would most likely consider themselves to have liberal views - YET here they are trying to force a medical procedure on people who may have done a lot of research & decided it's not for them. Many people I know HAVE done their research both on their personal risk from Covid (Oxford Uni has a calculator which takes all the available data and spits out your risk - mine is 0.005% risk of death from the virus...and I'm 47!). Many people I know have delved deeply into the merits/risks of the vaccine and the data of deaths & adverse affects linked to it. There are plenty of Dr's and scientists on both sides of the argument and it's OK to listen to both and draw ones own conclusion on what is right for them! There is no such thing as "the science" - by it's very nature science is constantly being hypothesised, being challenged and changing - is how it works! There's plenty HERE to consider Independent Information - Covid Vaccines - Safe & Effective? And lastly, I will finish with a repeat of my thoughts from the last few days. Divided we will fall, united we MUST stand. Irrespective of your vax status, we must all stand together - we are a society of different people who have the freedom to make different choices - it's that very freedom that we must unite to protect from a tyrannical government intent on eroding it.
